UMI Zero Full Review - Excellent Phone with Amazing Specifications

The UMI Zero caught the attention of all phone users all over the world with an awesome new design, and use of premium quality materials. When the UMi Zero was in the planning stages, UMi went for a new inventions from the phone itself, to even the unique packaging and accessories. The result is a truly unique smartphone, a mid-range phone with high-end features and looks!

UMi Zero arrived in it’s large unique style packaging. The box is much more luxurious than most phones at this pricen range, and really set you in a quality frame of mind. In the package you get 5-inch UMi Zero, screen protector, screen cleaner, USB, Texas instruments fast charger and ‘Z’ shaped protective bumper!

Umi Zero: Design

The UMI Zero is a 5-inch boasting a beautifully crafted, black “stealth-design”. The metal body of Mobile looks and feels impressive, and the Gorilla Glass 3 Protection on both sides provides that little new everyone is looking for in a mobile device. The build quality is outstanding at any price but considering the Zero costs only $200 it is even more impressive.

Unusually the power button is found on the left side below the volume rocker, but it's ergonomically positioned for righthanded users. Meanwhile, on the right you'll find a SIM tray that will accept either two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card. The 3.5mm headphone jack and Micro-USB charging port are also reversed, with the former at the bottom and latter at the top.

On the rear is a small speaker, while the 13Mp camera and dual-LED flash sit not in the middle but at the top-left corner - possibly a result of the Zero's ultra-slim design. One issue for some users will be the lack of a notification LED when you receive new texts and emails, although since our review a firmware update has corrected this issue

From the design and construction of the phone alone you would easily think that the Zero could be sold for double the asking price if it came from another manufacturer like samsung or LG. UMI didn’t lie when calling this a “super body”. The slim metal chassis measures only 6.4mm and weighs a feathery 145g. All very Outstanding!

UMI Zero : With Super AMOLED Display

Most Impressive feature of the UMi Zero is its display. Yes, it is a 5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 Pixel with 441 PPI, but the awesome feature is a SUPER AMOLED panel! This is the same screen technology used on high-end Samsung phones, and certainly not what we expected from a $200 Chinese device. The result: Intense and crisp colors, a very high contrast only few LCD panels can reach, and a true black, which sometimes makes it impossible to distinguish the screen from the phones black frame in the dark. At this price the screen is an amazing addition to a superb looking phone.

UMI Zero : Performance & System & Ram

UMI's Zero is an octa-core smartphone, running the 2GHz MediaTek MTK6592 Turbo processor with ARM Mali-450MP4 graphics and 2GB of RAM. It works smooth like any high range phones. Awesome working without any lag. I like the speed of this mobile and its really awesome.

it has Android 4.4 KitKat ROM, that its for the most part a vanilla ROM. Anyway we were forgetting a couple of peculiarities amid the test, the most imperative one being off-screen signals. KitKat does help these out of the case, yet the UMI Zero doesn't have them. This truly is a compassion which will ideally be settled with the last firmware. UMI guaranteed a ton of peculiarities, including the likelihood of introducing different custom ROMs like MIUI with simply a solitary tap, which we haven't seen yet on the gadget.

UMI Zero : Multimedia

1080p movies look on the gorgeous Super AMOLED panel, right? But in Audio, Well this isn’t quite up to the same standard as the high-end build and looks. It would haven been great to see UMi pack some nice audio equipment in the Zero, but I think there wasn’t much room in the budget for that. Sound quality is nothing to write home about on the built-in speaker, while it is better through its headphones, but lacks some serious bass system.

UMI Zero : Connectivity & Storage

At this price point the UMI Zero's storage and connectivity specs are perfectly reasonable. You won't get the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi (maxing out at the more standard 802.11n), NFC or 4G connectivity, but there is Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. If you're buying a phone from abroad it's important to note the frequency bands on which it operates, and the UMI Zero runs on 2G and 3G bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz and WCDMA 900/2100MHz.

I guess 3G signals and WIFI is much weaker than on a similar plastic bodied phone. There were times during the review that we had no 3G signal at all which could become annoying. But In India you definitely get some good signal strenght. GPS was working surprisingly well with our review unit. We’ve got a first fix within seconds, and that’s even possible inside the building at the window. The sat-count was at 8 most of the time, the accuracy reaching up to 2m.

Storage-wise there's 16GB built-in, and if you're not interested in the phone's dual-SIM functionality you can instead insert a microSD card up to 64GB in capacity. It's either/or, though, not both. Don't forget that this being an Android phone you can also take advantage of Google's own and third-party cloud-storage services.

UMI Zero: Camera

UMI advertised the Zero to feature a 13 mega pixel rear sony shooter  and 8 mega pixels for front.Pre-production versions of the phone came with an F2.2 aperture, but what is odd is that a firmware updated changed that number to F1.8. This is rather odd behaviour, and after reaching out to UMi they guarantee that production version will have a genuine aperture size of F1.8. Let’s hope that this is the case. You got quality Pictures with good resolution from both the side. You can take better selfies in this phone. Besides a high noise production the camera produces quite sharp shots with nice colors. The dual-LED flash  creates beautiful and sharp images.

 UMI Zero : Battery

The UMI Zero allegedly boasts a 2,780mAh Non removable battery. It’s hard to say if this is true or not, as the battery life isn’t significantly longer than with other phone. You’ll get over a day, but don’t expect any wonders. One outstanding feature of the UMI Zero is it’s capability of using fast charging. The technology comes from Texas Instruments and uses a special 2.4A charger with a special Micro USB cable. One extraordinary gimmick of the UMI Zero is its ability of utilizing quick charging. This implies yonu'll be prepared to follow simply somewhat more than one hour, in the event that you procured the propensity for re-charging your phone at 20%. Anyhow if you don't mind be cautious and do't touch the attachment joined to the charger when charging the telephone while really utilizing it.

Final Verdict :

If however you are in the market for a mid-range phone and performance with the build quality and looks of a high-end phone then the UMi Zero is a great device. For the quality the Zero is simply outstanding and, at this time, extremely hard to beat! There are issues but many should be fixed with the final firmware on production models in future i guess, and it is a shame the phone uses and older CPU which cannot support LTE, but I suppose we can’t get it all at such a great price.  Buy Umi Zero in India.

  • Dimensions – 142 x 71.8 x 8.9 mm
  • Weight – 149 grams

Lenovo P70 – Design, size, controls
- This model will be available in one color – dark blue out side of china, while in china it is presented in a white body and dark brown. Externally, the device does not make any impression, the usual rectangle of Android-smartphone, black front panel, three touch buttons below the screen. The first thing you notice is pretty slim, if you know what’s inside the battery at 4000 mAh. The dimensions of the device – 142h71.8h8.9 mm, weight – 149 grams. Typically, the model with batteries weigh about 200 grams, so the weight of 149 grams looks awesome. In everyday life, it always feel, the device is not much different from today’s smartphones.

Everywhere weight savings to achieve the most 149 grams. The right side has a on / off button, volume rocker. At the top end – 3.5 mm jack on the bottom – microUSB-socket. Build quality no complaints, it is plastic, the front panel is covered by Gorilla Glass, although oleophobic coating on the characteristics of the average, it remains visible traces of the hands and cheeks.

Under the back cover, you can see two slots microSIM-cards, they are unequal, one – only 2G, while the second – 2G / 3G / 4G. Also has a slot for memory cards. Lenovo P70 – Display 5-inch screen has a resolution of HD-1280×720 pixels (294 dpi), IPS. He has a good stock of brightness, the automatic adjustment of brightness greatly muted in order to get more work time. This is useful in almost all operating modes, except for watching a video. Color rendering screen does not stand out in class or for the worse or for the better. This is a very good solution. On the street the screen does not glare, the information is easy to read. Traditionally, Lenovo has a choice of fonts of different sizes, which makes use of the phone is comfortable depending on the severity of your vision (four preset size). I would like more flexibility in the settings, for example, different variants of colors. But expect this at such a machine is not worth it.

  Lenovo P70 – Battery(Best part Of Phone)
- Let’s start with the most interesting, namely the charging time. There is support for technology Quick Charge, respectively, the total charging time is about 3 hours. If you take the Fast Charger from the Galaxy Note 4, the charging time is 2 hours 10 minutes (up to a hundred percent!). In any case, this is clearly comparable with the most modern equipment and very little for such a battery capacity. Of unusual chips noting the existence of the cable USB-OTG, which can connect to any USB-connector cable for charging, your output will be 5V, 0.5A, ie the phone can act as an external charger. In my usage scenario was exhibited automatic backlight, the day I made phone calls for about 30 minutes, and about 2-2.5 hours in social networks, the Internet, either through 3G / 4G-connection (mainly) and Wi-Fi. Two full days of machine quietly worked.

Lenovo P70 – Processor performance
-The model is based on the chipset MediaTek MT6752, is an 8-core solution of the second generation, which is focused on a model of the middle price range. Of the nice features – each core Cortex A53, frequency – up to 1.7 GHz (64 bit). Graphics co-processor Mali-T760, and also the first time for MediaTek chipset This class has built-in support LTE cat. 4 (FDD, TDD claimed, but specifically in this model is not implemented). The amount of RAM – 2 GB built-in – 16 GB, 12 GB available to the user.

Lenovo P70Connectivity Features
-The smartphone works in networks GSM, HSDPA and LTE (4G) and is equipped with two slots for microSIM-cards. The first slot is supported LTE FDD (bands 1, 3, 7, 20), For PC synchronization and data transfer used the supplied cable microUSB. Interface USB 2.0. Supports USB-OTG – to your phone can be connected via an adapter flash drives and other storage devices with file systems FAT / FAT32. Bluetooth. Built-in Bluetooth 4.0 with support profile A2DP. Wi-Fi (802.11 a / b / g / n). The smartphone dual-band Wi-Fi module, it works flawlessly. Like any other modern Android-device, Lenovo P70 supports the “rassharivaniya” mobile Internet on Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi-route).

 Lenovo P70 – Camera
-The usual 13-megapixel autofocus camera module, which gives not good pictures, they do not look good even on the phone. However, you can verify this yourself. Also contain 5 -megapixel Front camera for selfies.

Lenovo P70 – Software features
-The device goes to Android 4.4.4, currently the latest version of the OS. All capabilities of the add-on Android called Vibe UI like Lenovo Vibe series Phones It remains an open question whether the update to version 5.0. From the perspective of the chipset is supported update. But whether it will be available for this model is not known. But companies are trying to update their key models, P70 refers to them. Neither the timing nor how will look updated (cable, over the air) unavailable.

Lenovo P70 – Music and F.M
-Traditionally, there is FM-radio, support to record sound from the airwaves. Individual player to play music not only Google Play Music. All traditional and familiar, but there is a hardware equalizer, you can adjust the sound for yourself. Phone sounds nice, but nothing special and not allocated. The maximum volume is comfortable, although the stock unit just does not have. Video codec support distinguishes H.265, otherwise all the usual and ordinary.

Final Verdict :
- If Lenovo P70 camera is slightly better, than this device can be accurately be called a bestseller, but for now it’s a very good contender for the role workaholic. Hours, a good screen – this is an argument in its favor. The model successfully, and the consumer will find it exactly. Persons who love fast performance find this mobile pretty good but camera lovers might fail their expectations.

Xiaomi might be Push MIUI 6 To The Redmi 1S This Week

When it comes to the latest software updates for our mobile devices we sometimes tend to think in fairly limited terms, focusing on only the major players like stock Android or iOS, or major ROM versions of the Android firmware like CyanogenMod or Paranoid Android. Plenty of smartphone manufacturers run their own custom version of the Android software however, and Xiaomi is a perfect example running their own in-house built custom MIUI flavor of Android on their smartphones. MIUI 6 is the latest version of the OS of Xiaomi and if you’re using a Xiaomi Redmi  1S, you might be  know that the Redmi 1S is going to be getting the update to MIUI 6.

The Redmi 1S won’t be the only older device getting the software bump however as it’s also been stated that other devices are going to be receiving the update to MIUI 6 as well sometime in the future. The Redmi 1S is not the first device to receive the update to MIUI 6 as Xiaomi officially announced the software version last summer in August of 2014 and it’s currently powering the Mi 4. Not too unlike stock Android however, there are many older devices that are left waiting for the latest version of software to be upgraded onto their phones months after the initial announcement and release.

When it comes to the owners of the Redmi 1S, the beta version of MIUI 6 is supposed to hit the airwaves sometime this week, with more devices getting the upgrade in the coming weeks ahead. Just like with other custom ROMs available for plenty of other more mainstream devices, MIUI 6 has an unofficial version of the ROM that is currently out there and available for a number of Xiaomi smartphones, which is an option for users who aren’t willing to wait for the official push from Xiaomi of the software update. Although it seems Xiaomi is starting to pick things up with the software rolling out to users more consistently now, they have been busy with many efforts in their expansion which could be an explanation as to why it’s taken longer than some may have expected to get the latest software build.

Another Chinese Dragon Umi Zero will come to India ?

Well latest rumors said that After Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi ,  One Plus One and Vivo entered Indian market, another Chinese Mobile Giant is looking forward to debut in Indian market. UMi Mobiles is preparing to launch its UMi Zero smartphone in India. First target is Europe and second will be India ? Now fans of the Zero can order the phone in Europe direct from Topresellerstore in Italy. Shipping within Europe is much faster and the phone will be subject to a 24 month warranty.

The company is in talks with Flipkart to enter in Indian market reports GizChina. Xiaomi is also selling its smartphones in India via Flipkart, So it will be tough fight between both the smartphone makers to sell their smartphones via same platform Flipkart.

The report doesn’t provide any timeline when the UMi will launch its devices in India, nor it provided any pricing information. But we think the company will debut in Indian market soon this week after entering the Europe.

UMi Zero key Specifications :

  • 5 inch FHD screen
  • 2 GHz Octa core processor
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Mali 400 GPU
  • 13 Megapixel rear camera with LED Flash

iball launch New Mobile Named Xotic with with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage for Rs. 7999

The latest tweet by @MaheshTelecom unveiled an upcoming iBall handset called the iBall Xotic. The full specifications are not yet available but only two specs and the price that have been revealed makes it somewhat exciting.

iBall Xotic is coming soon with a price tag of Rs. 7,999. This handset will come packed with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Well that’s about it, we will have to wait and check the full specifications to get an idea if this is worth the price.

Lava Mobiles had launched the Iris X8 octa core handset a day before, with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The Lava Iris X8 is priced at Rs. 8,999 and will be available from 9th February on Flipkart from 12:00 noon, the handset will also be made available in retail stores.

iBall Xotic with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage sounds similar to what the latest Iris X8 is offering, if the hardware is indeed the same (Octa Core) and some extra features like OTG support and Full HD Display then that would really be more interesting.

I think if the company launch this model with 4G Dual active Sim and 13 MP Front shooting camera and 5 MP rear shooting camera  than get so much of response by Indian customers. Also with Corning Gorilla glass and Bigger Battery its really blooming the Indian market.
